Source linker 101

SourceLinker is a tool provided by and used within FamilySearch to attach source records to individuals in the Family Tree.  This helps establish ever stronger confirmations of where and when people lived.  This site aims to help train and answer questions on using this tool for all skill levels.

The Crucial Skill

Source Linking is THE single most important skill in this phase of family history.  With thousands of now-indexed records floating around, we can really make huge impacts in our branches of the tree by attaching them to their respective persons.  FamilySearch makes it super easy to compare indexed individuals from a variety of sources side-by-side with a supposed matched family that already exists in the tree.  Using data, deduction skills and intuition we can attach and add individuals to the world's largest family tree.
